AccountantsWorld has been providing practical software solutions for accountants for over 20 years. The company focuses on web-based applications for payroll, accounting, fixed assets, practice management, websites, document storage and more. CyberCabinet is designed to focus on meeting the needs of small to mid-size accounting firms that need a simple, practical and cost-effective means of storing documents that can be retrieved from anywhere and sharing documents with clients so they can access and upload documents 24x7.

Usability -- 3 Stars
CyberCabinet is a web-hosted application, thereby alleviating its users from having to deal with the installation and administration of the application. All you need to worry about is your connectivity to the Internet. The application is designed as a solution to help you manage your electronic files in a manner that allows you to share them and collaborate with your clients online. As well, you can also extend the opportunity for your clients to upload files to your CyberCabinet.

Document Organization -- 4 Stars
The entry point of the system is the Client Management Center. This displays a list of all of the clients you have established in the system. For each client, it displays the number of files, the total storage space used and the date of the last file upload. The client folder structure is displayed on the left side of the window with a hit list of the files within each folder on the right, along with the name of the person who uploaded the files. When you create a new client, the default folder structure is established for that client, which you can then modify. You can also control the folders to which the client has access.

Integration -- 3 Stars
CyberCabinet provides direct integration with the AccountantsWorld Payroll Relief and Accounting Relief applications. No current integration is provided for tax software, Microsoft Office or Outlook.

Annotation -- 3 Stars
CyberCabinet is designed as a file storage/file sharing solution and does not provide any functionality for viewing or annotating documents. This is done through the native applications such as Acrobat, Excel, etc.

Overall Value -- 3.5 Stars
In order to establish the value of CyberCabinet, it is important to understand the role it is designed to fulfill as a file storage/file sharing solution rather than a document storage solution per se. The web hosting feature offers a compelling advantage for extending web-based access to your files for staff and clients. That alone is worth the price of the application, in my opinion. One of the key applications for CyberCabinet is to use it for remote backup storage of your critical files. The price is $395 per year for 500MB of storage and $20 for each additional gigabyte. This price includes an unlimited number of staff and client logins. Due to its simplicity, training is not really a concern; a flash presentation offers a guided tour of the system to get you up to speed.
