From the September 2009 Review of Point-of-Sale Systems

CounterPoint SQL from Radiant Systems is a sophisticated point-of-sale (POS) product available in two editions: Express, which is an entry-level product designed for a one-user up to a three-user, single-store environment, and Enterprise, which is designed for retailers of any size.

EASE OF USE:
CounterPoint offers users the choice of four different user interfaces: the Single Pane tree view, the Dual Pane Explorer view, the Standard interface (which contains a drop-down menu bar at the top of the screen) and the Button interface (which offers access to system modules using a grid of colorful buttons). CounterPoint can be utilized using a mouse, a computer keyboard or a touch-screen monitor. Along with the various user interfaces, users also have the option of three Toolbar styles, including the simple toolbar, the default toolbar or the V7, which features a series of tabs with designated tasks.

Users can process POS transactions using either the regular ticket entry screen or the touch-screen. The Activate Drawer function is where beginning drawer totals are entered, by unit, including change. Once these totals have been entered, the drawer is activated.

Sales entry screens are easily navigated. Clicking on the customer button brings up a customer or the default button can be used for walk-in customers. Buttons are available for accessing various functions such as customer, item, ticket and station. Both sales and returns can be processed from the same POS screen. All CounterPoint user interface screens are customizable for each user, so employees can design the interface they are comfortable with and it will be saved under their profile and available upon signing into the system.

MODULES/SCALABILITY:
CounterPoint SQL includes the POS module along with Inventory, Purchasing, eCommerce, Receivables, Customers, Sales History, Data Interchange, Timecard, Grids and Apparel, and Credit Card processing modules. A Credit Card option can be purchased separately and allows for the use of any of CounterPoint’s preferred credit card processors. Also available is the CPGateway, which provides users with credit card approval in seconds, and CPOnline, which provides easy online store setup and management. CounterPoint SQL Express can be easily upgraded to CounterPoint Enterprise, so retailers can start with the minimal system needed and expand when necessary. Other options available include Receivables, Serial Numbers, Offline Ticket Entry, Credit Cards and Gift Registry.
